Bayfront Pavilion
Bayfront Pavilion is a public event space located in Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. The pavilion blends an intricate perforated shell with the surrounding landscape. Its form and panel pattern were defined by environmental simulations and structural optimisation. The primary structure is made of steel, and the inner and outer skins consist of 11,000 unique triangular aluminium panels cut by laser. The shell spans about 50 metres and covers about 2000 square metres. The pavilion offers a shaded and climatically comfortable outdoor space for visitors and hosts community and cultural events.
Bayfront Pavilion Public Event Space by Thomas Schroepfer has been selected as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Bayfront Pavilion Public Event Space earned the Platinum A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which rewards superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
